Progress Report

Finally after a lot of hard work we have real tangible progress to report.

You may have noticed that we have new double glazed windows.
You won’t have noticed that we also have a new gas tank and boiler.

Victory Hall is also now fully licensed so an ideal location for your party.

Looking forward to many happy and warm events this coming winter.

We’ve never had it so good!

New Book Club 9th August

New Book Club in Farley Hill

Our ever-popular monthly coffee mornings at the Victory Hall are about to have added value.

If you enjoy reading and would like to talk about books, come along on Tuesday 9th August at 10.00 am to the inaugural meeting of the Farley Hill Book Club. You won’t need to buy the books - Wokingham Library will supply.

It should be fun!

And if you don’t fancy talking about books, that’s fine. Just come along as usual any time between 10.00 and 1 o’clock for coffee, cake and a chat.

Remember:

what?   Coffee morning, with or without books

when?   Every second Tuesday of the month

where?  At the Victory Hall, Farley Hill

We are open for business

That’s right folks it’s been more than 18 months in the planning, but we are now ready to accept members.

The story continues….

The following Managing Trustees have now been appointed to the Victory Hall Trust: Christiaan Munro, Harry Cannon, Cliff Chatten, Mary Hamer and Emma Tweed.
Updated documents have been submitted to the Charities Commission and now we can begin the grant application processin order to make some improvements to the Hall.

Maintenance to the roof has already begun and getting the heating operational is also high on the agenda, so hopefully next winter it will be nice and warm in the hall!

No business like snow business

Yet again, an eager, if not entirely tuneful, collective braved snow underfoot and arctic temperatures to “sing” to the residents of Woodbury Court.
Ignoring the protestations of the audience, we managed to sleigh such classics as Silent Night, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Away in a Manger.

Full marks to Christiaan for managing to print the wrong lyrics for nearly all of the songs selected.

It was then back to the Hall for mince pies and lashings of mulled wine.

Farley Hill’s Got Talent !

It is now official.

Farley Hill does have talent… though singing might not be the said talent. See below…

More than 60 of us tripped the light fantastic to DJ Dave Butler’s “Funky Tunes” followed by spontaneous Karaoke.

Village made burgers and sausages provided by Chris and Viv Butler were washed down with fine ales and wine.

A smashing evening!

Arty and Crafty

A great time was had by all at the arts and craft morning.

A big thankyou to those that came to make masks, junk models (models from junk that is) and general messy stuff.

A very special thanks though goes to the mums that helped out.

Next family event is the 19th June 6pm The Village Social.
